Seth MacFarlane offers a million ways to die . . .
in the West, that is . . .Â
Having just revealed character posters for their upcoming motion picture A Million Ways to Die in the West, Universal Studios today released the first official trailer for the film. A Million Ways to Die in the West is Seth MacFarlaneâ upcoming live-action western comedy.
The trailer naturally features MacFarlane and such supporting players as Charlize Theron and Liam Neeson who are both said to be stepping outside their typically âmore serious rolesâ to have a good time. Also included in the cast is Neil Patrick Harris, Amanda Seyfried, Giovanni Ribisi and Sarah Silverman who plays a prostitute. For those still confused after watching the trailer the studio released an official synopsis.
The film is described as follows: âAfter a cowardly sheep farmer backs out of a gunfight, his fickle girlfriend leaves him for another man. When a mysterious and beautiful woman rides into town, she helps him find his courage and they begin to fall in love. But when her husband, a notorious outlaw, arrives seeking revenge, the farmer must put his new found courage to the test.â It is essentially a satire of life in the wild west in the 19th century. The running gag in the story seems to be that âpeople die . . . a lot.â
The preview provides an ample sample of this bloody feature. Naturally, MacFarlane fans should rest assured that inside sources say the movie is laden with profanity and the crass humor that his fans have come to expect with his projects (âFamily Guyâ, Ted). (On a side note, MacFarlaneâs character and yours truly have the same mailing address, ladies . . . oh yeah . . .) The film opens in theaters on May 30.
