The Beatles: On this day in music history

Most music aficionados know that The Beatles were a UK band founded in 1960. They were the most critically and commercially successful acts in history. The line-up from 1962 on included: John Lennon (guitar, keys, and vocals), Paul McCartney (bass, keys, guitar and vocals), George Harrison (guitar, keys and vocals) and Ringo Starr (drums, percussion, piano and vocals).
On this day in music history, there were several noteworthy Beatles-related moments. The events date from 1961 through 2010.
On this day in 1961 The Beatles play the Cavern Club for the first time.
The Beatles 1964
On this day in 1964 The Beatles make their first live appearance on CBS’s Ed Sullivan Show.   They score a rating record of almost 73 percent. They pre-record another performance for the show as well. Finally, The Beatles check out the Peppermint Loungeâ€"the home of the dance sensation known as The Twist.
On this day in 1967 The Beatles are in the studio recording the first 3 takes of “Fixing A Holeâ€. The “Penny Lane“/â€Strawberry Fields Forever†film clips are shown on BBC-TV’s “Top Of The Popsâ€.
On this day in 1981 McCartney, Stanley Clarke and Steve Gadd spend much of the day in a jam session in Montserrat.
On this day in 1982 in L.A., UNICEF presents Harrison with the UNICEF Award for his work on the 1971 Bangladesh concert as well as a special citation for his “Outstanding Contribution to the World’s Children.â€
On this day in 1988 Harrison goes to Hollywood where he takes part in a live satellite link-up with the “Ray Martin Midday Show†in Australia.
Paul McCartney at the Olympics in 2012
On this day in 1990 McCartney performs at  The Centrum in Worcester, Massachusetts as part of his “Get Back Tourâ€.
On this day in 2012 McCartney is added to the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
