CNNâs prime-time talk show âPiers Morgan Liveâ is coming to an end.
Morgan told The New York Times that his show lately has âtaken a bath in the ratingsâ but that he and CNN President Jeff Zucker were discussing a new role for him at the channel. CNNâs audience has tired of hearing a Brit weigh in American cultural issues.
CNN has not yet released any details about Morganâs future involvement with the network.
Why Is the Piers Morgan Show Ending?
The Piers Morgan Live show has seen increased competition from a revised Fox News Channel lineup that included a strong new performer at 9 p.m. EST with Megyn Kellyâs âThe Kelly File.â
Morgan, who succeeded the longtime runnign Larry King show three years ago has continually drawn poor ratings.
Piers Morgan is a professionally recognized British journalist and television host, he is a former judge on Americaâs Got Talent, Britainâs Got Talent, and previous Celebrity Apprentice winner.
He is a former editor for the Daily Mirror, The Sun, News of the World, and several other British tabloids. Morgan has been questioned in connection with Britainâs long-running phone hacking scandal, which has led to numerous arrests, resignations and the closure of Rupert Murdochâs News of the World tabloid. On 6 December 2013, Morgan was interviewed, by police officers from Operation Weeting investigating phone-hacking allegations at Mirror Group Newspapers during his tenure as editor.
Morgan quickly gained notoriety for his invasive, thrusting style and lack of concern for celebritiesâ privacy, claiming that celebrities manipulate the media to further their own wants.
