Many are asking who hacked Target as the retail giant has over 40 million of its credit cards stolen by hackers.
Days before Black Friday, Target saw a breach in its databases as hackers stole 40 million of Target usersâ credit card numbers and personal information. The massive hack is reported to have been started the day before Thanksgiving and was carried out all the way through to Sunday, December 15.

As the Federal authorities get involved to investigate one of the largest hacks in U.S. history, Target told reporters that it is working with outside experts to find out how they were hacked on such a large scale. Authorities are also trying to piece the puzzle as to who is behind the computer attack.
Occurring during the busiest season for the retailer, Target has seen a backlash from its consumers as they now doubt their information is secure in its stores. Authorities are unsure at this time if the attack was executed by finding a weakness within Targetâs databases or through its credit card service vendors.
Lawyers from multiple states have already inquired about the cyber attack with Target Corp. as it is inevitable that the store will see class action lawsuits about the incident. The customers whose personal information was hacked came from users of the Target REDcard.
Target has not commented fully on the incident as they state that the investigation is still pending and more details will be given out as information is gathered.
At this time, no person or group has come forward to claim responsibility for the hack. However, it has been reported that card information that was stolen has already been used in the thousands.
