Emma Watson can add yet another credential to her already impressive resume: Brown University college graduate. The actress, 24, shared her milestone with fans on social media when she tweeted a selfie of herself donning her schoolâs cap and gown for her graduation ceremony. Watson received her bachelorâs degree in English literature Sunday per E! News.
The actress, best known for her infamous role of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies, began her freshman year at the Ivy League school back in 2009. She also studied at Englandâs Oxford University and continued to make movies while going to school. She took one year off in 2011, but still managed to graduate within 5 years â" a feat that is quite impressive given her demanding career.
The starlet said that while deciding to pursue higher education she was nervous about trying to blend in with her classmates. âOn the first day, I walked into the canteen and everyone went completely silent and turned to look at me,â she told The Sunday Times in March. âI had to say to myself, âItâs okay, you can do this. You just have to take a deep breath and gather your courage.ââ
Watsonâs leading role in the Potter franchise made it difficult to blend into the crowd. âI was in denial,â she said in a 2011 interview. âI wanted to pretend I wasnât as famous as I was. I was trying to seek out normality, but I kind of have to accept who I am, the position Iâm in and what happened.â
As if school wasnât enough to juggle, Watson shot the final two Harry Potter movies and starred in indie films like The Bling Ring and The Perks of Being a Wallflower while she was in school. She also filmed Darren Aronofskyâs biblical hit Noah.
Next on Watsonâs list? She is working on the thriller Regression, co-starring Ethan Hawke and her other future plans are TBD.
âWhen I finish my degree,â the actress said while guest-editing Wonderlandâs February 2014 issue, âI will have a lot more time to pursue other passions, and I want to figure out what those will be. I love having something completely unrelated to the film industry. I want to find something that will let me use my brain in another way. I like connecting people who arenât part of that world, too.â
Congrats Emma Watson!
