NBC has added three dramas and a comedy for series orders after an announcement made Tuesday.
Katherine Heigl is making her small screen come back after a 4-year absence from TV. Best known for her 5-year stint on ABCâs Greyâs Anatomy, the blonde beauty is officially making her way back on TV this fall. NBC announced Tuesday that Heigl will star and executive produce a new CIA drama State of Affairs. Thatâs right, another strong, blonde female CIA officer to add to our television lineup.
Described as Scandal meets The West Wing, the upcoming drama, the upcoming NBC drama centers around a CIA officer (Katherine Heigl) who becomes the presidentâs daily briefer. Heiglâs character(whoâs name has yet to be released) will assume responsibility for targeting Americaâs most critical threats while navigating the unique lifestyle that comes with such a high profile and demanding job. Lizzie Stevens, as Heigl was known on Greyâs Anatomy, has certainly upped her responsibilities and stress to a whole new level.
NBC picks up 4 series, including one starring Katherine Heigl in âState of Affairsâ.

NBC has also picked up Marry Me, a single camera comedy starring Casey Wilson and Ken Marino as a newly engaged couple who realize that getting married is harder than people make it out to be. Sarah Wright, John Gemberling, Tymberlee Hill, and Tim Meadows will also star in the series, along with Scandal Emmy winner Dan Bucatinsky having a guest role on the show.
Two other pilots that were picked-up by the peacock network are two new dramas Allegiance and Odyssey. Allegiance stars Gavin Stenhouse as an idealistic CIA analyst who discovers that his parents (played by Hope Davis and Scott Cohen) are actually deactivated Soviet spies. The parents are reactivated to complete one last final mission: Turn their son into a Russian asset.
And Odyssey rounds out the bunch, an international thriller about the unexpected collision of a female soldier(Anna Friel) a corporate attorney (Peter Facinelli) and a political activist (Jake Robinson) in the aftermath of the murder of a key Al Qaeda operative in an operation in Northern Africa.
Keep your TiVoâs ready for this fallâs action-packed NBC lineup and the return of Katherine Heigl to the small screen.
