Electronic Arts recently scored a 10 year deal with exclusive rights to produce video games for the âStar Warsâ franchise after LucasArts was shut down earlier this year.
Fans already have reasons to get excited as it was announced at E3 this year that EA would be working on long awaited title,âBattlefront 3â³.
At one time the original âStar Wars Battlefrontâ was the highest selling âStar Warsâ game of all time.
However, there has been concern that the main focus for EA moving forward would be games centered around movie tie-ins, with the upcoming âStar Wars Episode VII,â and the forthcoming squeals over the next few years.
But according to recent reports this may not be the case .
âWeâve done movie games over the years and we wanted to make sure that we werenât doing a movie gameâ"a game based on the movieâ¦The beauty of the Star Wars franchise is that itâs so broad and so deep, you donât have to do a movie gameâ"you can do a game thatâs very focused on the world thatâs been created around âStar Wars,â said Blake Jorgensen, EAâs Chief Financial Officer at the UBS conference.
There are no other specific titles announced for the EA lineup of âStar Warsâ games being worked on, but Jorgensen had assuring words for fans of the franchise.
âWe struck what we believe is a fantastic deal which allows us to be able to build games in many different genres across multiple types of platforms over 10 years.â
