Michael Strahan proved his new deal to work on Good Morning America was no hoax as he joined his future co-anchors for a brief introduction this morning.
The former NFL player will be joining the popular morning news show âseveral days a weekâ but will continue his full time job of co-hosting âLive with Kelly and Michaelâ every day.

Both âLiveâ and âGood Morning Americaâ are ABC programs and the anchors regularly fill in for each other when they are on sick leave or vacation, but this is the most permanent connection between the two sets of staff.George Stephanopoulos used the example of âthe way that you and Kelly (Ripa) all steppe din while Robin (Roberts) was away with her transplantâ to identify how Michael Strahan was already a part of the news program.âItâs a family and we appreciate you guys too,â Strahan said on behalf of him and Ripa.
Strahanâs introduction at the top of GMAâs second hour this morning was brief as the crowd cheered him in and gag gifts such as a giant coffee mug and an alarm clock from his new colleagues were presented. He needed to jet out of the studio quickly to head uptown to the âLiveâ studios to be there in time for the 9am show.
When he sat down with Ripa on âLiveâ just an hour later and was asked how the introduction went, he said it âgood, it was quick. Hopefully itâs a match made in heaven.â
Michael Strahan will officially start with GMA next week, working for the morning news show a few days a week, however no one specified what time and if filming constraints will be imposed in order for him to make his double work responsibilities.
Pre-taped segments with live introductions, creative use of various ABC studios in Manhattan, and scheduling Strahan in the first hour of GMA are possibilities when trying to work around his busy schedule.
