Greene was breastfeeding her baby while taking morphine, klonopin, and a number of other drugs.

The baby was found dead in her parent’s bedroom back, on Nov. 13, 2010. When the coroners office and investigators arrived at the scene, Greene was slurring her words, acting disoriented, and her pupils were dilated, according to testimony given at the trial.

Toxicology reports showed that there were toxic levels of morphine and klonopin in Greene’s brain and liver. The poisonous levels of the drugs in her system turned her breast milk sour and poisoned her baby.

A doctor who was unaware of Greene’s pregnancy or that she was breastfeeding, prescribed the drugs to Greene.

At the trial a doctor testified that the baby must have been given the drugs orally, because the infant’s body showed no signs of needle marks.

Barry Barnett from the solicitor’s office argued during the trial that the drugs Greene was taking poisoned her breast milk and killed the baby.

According to Barnett, Greene has a number of fake prescriptions that she uses to obtain drugs.

When breastfeeding infants receive breast milk directly from their mother’s breasts. Most doctors recommend breastfeeding, because breast milk contains more vital nutrients for the baby than powdered formulas, along with decreasing babies’ chances of developing allergies, decrease’s risk of diabetes, and celiac disease.

In this case though the toxic levels of the drugs in the Greene’s blood stream turned her breast milk sour and killed her baby.

She could faces 20 years to life at her sentencing hearing on Friday.
