Ian Fleming’s character James Bond is arguably more popular than ever after the spy had his last trip to the silver screen in the immensely popular “Skyfall.”

The film was the first in the long running series to crest $1 billion at the global box office.

Aside from the financial success, the “Skyfall” was a hit with both critics and fans, which, of course, led to speculation about the next installment.

Details have been a bit scarce up to this point, but there are some important confirmed bits of information that can help fans begin to piece together the puzzle of the currently untitled “James Bond 24.”

First and foremost, Daniel Craig will once again be taking on the role of Bond not only for this film, but at least two more.

“Hopefully we’ll reclaim some of the old irony,” he said, “and make sure it doesn’t become pastiche,” said Craig recently in an interview with Vulture Magazine.

Also, “Skyfall” director Sam Mendes will be returning for the next installment, even though initially it did not look to be the case due to some commitments he had in the theatre.

“I am very pleased that by giving me the time I need to honour all my theatre commitments, the producers have made it possible for me to direct Bond 24,” said Mendes in a statement.

Robert Wade and Neal Purvis, who worked as writers on the last five films in the franchise since 1999′s “The World is Not Enough,” will not be returning to write on the next film.

Writer John Logan however, will be in charge of penning the script for the next two Bond films, which will both be direct follow ups to “Skyfall.”

Though it has not yet been confirmed to have any influence over the plot of the “James Bond 24,” MGM and Danjaq have recently acquired the full rights to all of the Bond franchise after a long standing legal battle with the estate of Kevin McClory, co-write of “Thunderball.”

This now means that, if the creative minds behind the film do so choose, they can now return Bond’s arch nemesis, Ernst Stavro Blofeld to the franchise.

This, again, is only a possibility and has not been suggested by any official sources related to the project.

There is no Bond girl confirmed for the film but both Kate Upton and Penelope Cruz have been rumored to be in contention for the role.

The film is currently slated for a November 2015 release.
