A Wentzville mom arrested for nude Snapchat photo with her daughter has made headlines as the mother took a topless photo of herself with her 14-year-old shirtless daughter.

While the names of those involved have remained anonymous to protect the child, the mother has been arrested by authorities and charged with a misdemeanor child endangerment. According to St. Charles County Prosecutor Tim Lohmar:
“The issue here is the fact the daughter was 14 and the mother was clearly present and involved when the photo was taken…It certainly appeared that the picture was posed and it certainly had some overtones.
This was a mother who made a very poor choice, I don’t think she had any intention that this would blow up the way it did, but it did and she only has her poor judgment to blame for that.â€
While the prosecution and authorities allege that the photo was posed and done purposefully, the mother, 50, states that it was taken by her teenage daughter and unintentional:
“I was aware the photo was taken, and I told her at that second, please delete that photo. I wasn’t posing I was getting out of the tub.â€
The mother faces up to a year in jail if found guilty of child endangerment.
The photo was reportedly sent out by the teenage girl via the phone photo application Snapchat. While the photo is only suppose to last a maximum of 10 seconds in the app before it is deleted, it is believed one the girl’s friends that received the photo took a screenshot of it and sent it out to the girl’s classmates. The photo quickly spread to high schools in the area where it also received media attention.
The photo is of the mother and her 14-year-old daughter topless in the bathtub. It has been reported that the mother’s 13-year-old daughter took the photo on her older sister’s cell phone.
